Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Ice Blue Baguette 2016

This Rolex 116506 (which is also known as: Rolex 116576) pays homage to the 50th anniversary of the Daytona. With this special celebration version Rolex has been introduced a 40mm case in 950 Platinum, which comes with a monobloc Cerachrom bezel in chestnut brown with engraved tachymetric scale, screw-down crown and push buttons. What’s more, the watch also features 11 Baguette index hour markers.

In addition there is an ice blue dial with chestnut brown lacquer counters; there are Chromalight appliques on hands and index hour markers; a self-winding perpetual mechanical chronograph movement; and a folding Oysterlock bracelet with Easylink 5 mm comfort extension. This unique time piece is water-resistant down to 100 meters.

On a separate note; the original Cosmograph Daytona was introduced in 1963. It was designed to meet the rigorous demands of professional race drivers. The success of the Rolex Daytona is largely due to Sir Malcolm Campbell, a legendary personality in the motorsport world, who was also known as the Speed King, and was also the first Rolex Ambassador. In his Blue Bird race cars, Sir Malcolm Campbell set several land-speed records both in Europe and at a racetrack in a little-known Florida city called Daytona Beach wearing a Rolex Daytona on his wrist.
